The default delimiters for TeX-style mathematics are a combination backslash-parentheses, backslash-square brackets, or double-dollar signs.
\( and backslash-close paren, \)\[ and backslash-close bracket, \]In the Markdown text you need to escape the backslashes used for the delimiters.
When \\(a \ne 0\\), there are two solutions to \\(ax^2 + bx + c = 0\\) and they are
\\[x = {-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac} \over 2a}.\\]
Becomes this output:
